Fire Resistant Glass

Projects - Fire Resistant Glass

Not only protection against injuries but also fire safety is strongly gaining interest. Fire-resistant glass has different features and, depending on the function or application, it can be provided with a fire resistance of up to 120 minutes.

Fire-resistant glass can form a barrier against smoke and flames and it can act as insulation against extreme heat.

The fire resistance of glass is tested and categorised in accordance with standard NBN EN 1364. A distinction is made between E (flameproof), EW (flameproof + radiation restrictive) and El (fire resistant and insulating), always supplemented by the time span in minutes for which the glass is approved. Example EI30 The standards cited relate only to the glass component. It goes without saying that the frame must also meet the requirements set.
